Family Portrait with Pink Grass & Dogs!
In early November, I joined forces with my friend and photographer, Megan of Megan Elise Photography, for a collaborative photoshoot. After Megan captured beautiful shots of my family when we moved to Florida, we decided to swap and create family portraits for each other. The chosen location, suggested by Megan, was in front of the Mosaic building in Lithia, with a charming paved walkway adorned with blooming pink muhly grass. This session marked my first experience capturing pets, featuring Megan's lovely dogs. Despite the wind, the lighting was perfect, and Megan's daughters posed effortlessly.
The collaboration was a fantastic idea, seamlessly blending professional expertise with our shared love for natural light photography. A week later, Megan reciprocated, capturing incredible photos for our holiday card. Grateful for the exchange, it was a special experience, highlighting the joy of photographers coming together to create memorable moments.

Recently, I had the honor of photographing a wonderful family of four right on their own slice of paradise in FishHawk Ranch. And let me tell you, the location couldn't have been more perfect for this mini photo session. One of the things I love most about FishHawk is its natural beauty. The soft, golden light of the sun embraced us throughout the session, enhancing the already breathtaking scenery and adding a touch of magic to each frame.

Let me tell you about my recent family photography session at Gizella Kopsick Arboretum in St. Petersburg, Florida. This time, I had the pleasure of capturing a family of four with two young boys. What made this shoot special was the two vastly different environments within walking distance of each other. The arboretum was full of tropical plants and winding paths that provided an incredible natural setting. Just across the street was Tampa Bay, giving the shoot a beautiful beach setting.

Fall Family Photo shoot
Last fall, I had the pleasure of photographing two brother's families at Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah, NJ. The shoot featured a soft and dusty-colored backdrop of the remaining leaves on the trees and the lake acting as a mirror to reflect nature's unsaturated colors. The cousins had a great bond, making for some fantastic moments captured. The families chose well-coordinated seasonal outfits, and I used both natural light and off-camera strobes with umbrellas to capture stunning portraits. Overall, this shoot remains one of my favorites.
Let me tell you about one of my favorite fall family photo shoots of all time. The shoot took place just before the temperatures dropped too low, and the colors of the trees were still spectacular. The boys were a blast to photograph, and their moods were ever-changing, but that created some of the best moments. Plus, the cousins clearly adored each other, and that really showed in the photos.
Now, one thing that really stood out about this shoot was the families' wardrobe. They did an incredible job of coordinating their outfits perfectly for a fall photo shoot, choosing seasonal colors that complemented the scenery. I cannot stress enough how important wardrobe is for group photos, and these families nailed it.
As a photographer, I like to be prepared for anything, so I switched between natural light photos and off-camera strobes with umbrellas. Fall light can be unpredictable, and I wanted to make sure I captured every moment without overexposing the stunning backgrounds.
